A 19th Century C. Mahillon Metal Kettle Drum - An antique metal kettle drum manufactured by C. Mahillon of Brussels. The instrument features a deep, hemispherical metal shell supported by three integral tripod feet. Eight iron T-handle tension rods are mounted to spade-shaped brackets around the circumference, securing a natural vellum head beneath a wooden counter-hoop. The shell is stamped with an impressed mark reading 33 above a six-pointed star containing the letter E, followed by C . MAHILLON, FOURNISSEUR BREVETE DE L'ARMEE ET DES CONSERVATOIRES, and BRUXELLES. Below this text is an embossed circular seal depicting a royal coat of arms with two lions flanking a crowned shield; the text on the lower banner of the seal is not legible. No other maker labels or marks are visible.
