A 20th Century German O.W. Thum Pewter and Glass Claret Jug - A 20th-century German claret jug featuring clear glass and high-tin pewter mounts. The vessel consists of a pear-shaped, mold-blown clear glass body joined to a tapered pewter neck. It is fitted with a stylized scroll handle and a hinged lid operated by a thumbpiece. The pewter handle is impressed with three distinct marks including 95% Sn indicating tin content, an oval cartouche containing the letters OWT, and a circular mark depicting an owl. These are the touchmarks of Otto Wilhelm Thum of Nuremberg. The handle terminates at the base in a cast foliate pad. No other marks are visible on the glass or metal components.
