A 19th Century Charles Boyton and Son Sterling Silver Christening Mug - A 19th-century sterling silver christening mug crafted by Charles Boyton and Son. The vessel is of cylindrical form with a simple C-scroll handle. It features delicate beaded borders at the rim and base, and the interior retains a pale gilded finish. The exterior is decorated with hand-engraved ferns and foliage in the Aesthetic style surrounding a central cartouche with the monogram RHB. The body is struck with a set of English hallmarks including a serrated rectangular punch containing the maker initials CB over BB, an anchor for Birmingham, a lion passant, the date letter M for 1886, and a Queen Victoria duty mark.
