A Late 19th Century Gold Sovereign Pendant - An antique British gold sovereign pendant featuring a Victorian full sovereign coin within a decorative mount. The central full sovereign is struck in 22 carat gold and held by six prongs on the reverse. The 9 carat gold mount is designed with an openwork scalloped gallery and a textured diamond-cut bezel surrounding the coin face. A teardrop bail is fitted to the top loop. The coin obverse bears the profile of Queen Victoria and the inscription VICTORIA D G BRITANNIAR REG F D, while the reverse shows Saint George slaying a dragon with the date 1880. A mark on the bail consists of a rectangular cartouche containing the characters 9 and c. No other marks are visible. Total weight 12.41g Sovereign is 7.98g Mount is 4.43
