A Trio of 19th Century Stained Wood and Rush Side Chairs - A trio of 19th Century side chairs crafted from dark-stained wood and woven rush. The chairs follow the Arts and Crafts tradition with backrests featuring five vertical spindles supported between a slightly curved top rail and a lower cross-bar. Each seat is hand-woven with rush in a four-triangle pattern meeting at the center. The frames are built with turned cylindrical legs and reinforced by double front stretchers and single side and rear stretchers. The dark finish is applied to a hardwood frame, following the style popularized by the William Morris company.
