A 19th Century Johann Maresch Terracotta Figural Group - A 19th-century polychrome-painted terracotta figural group titled ”A Great Secret.” The sculpture depicts two young boys in rustic attire standing on a textured, rocky-ground base. One boy, wearing a wide-brimmed hat and white shirt, leans in to whisper a secret to his companion who is dressed in a textured cap and dark apron. The rear of the base features an integrated hollow tree stump, designed for use as a functional spill vase or match holder. The front of the base displays a raised rectangular plaque inscribed with the title ”A great secret” in yellow-painted script. The underside bears the impressed factory mark ”JMIII” and the mold number ”9629,” identifying the piece as a production of the Johann Maresch factory in Bohemia. A handwritten blue pencil or graphite mark reading ”P/” is also visible on the base interior. Height - 10”
