19th Century Adam Revival Caned Armchair - A 19th-century Adam Revival tub armchair crafted from mahogany with caned inserts. The barrel-back frame is constructed from solid mahogany and inset with fine woven mesh. It features a rounded seat rail and stands on two front turned and fluted legs with ring-turned feet and two splayed rear legs. Carved ram's heads terminate the armrests above foliate supports, while the front rail displays vertical pierced slats and floral patera corner blocks. Came from Kinross House, int he heart of the area associated with The famous historic architects, the Adam family—specifically William Adam and his sons Robert and James Adam. Understood to be made by Gillows of Lancaster in the Regency period.
