Constant Transcience (I rebelled and painted primroses) By Louise Marchal Oil on wood panel 2010 - SHIPS FROM United Kingdom DescriptionThe painting presents a reflective and suggestive image of a tablet and partially derives from a digitally distorted photograph of some primroses. As such it references the history of nature painting as well as our shifting relationship with nature. This work was part of a larger body of work titled'Screen Play'. As well as investigating the play between two and three dimensional images it played around with ideas of the popular consumption of art on the web and how we encounter paintings / the world through increasingly accelerated glimpses of images. As with many works from this period of the artist's work, th surface is only partially painted. The rest of the surface is varnished and the wood will continue to mellow in colour. These works were originally exhibited in 'Screen Play II' at York City Screen in 2010. Louise Marchal is a U.K. based contemporary artist who works in an expanded practice based in painting and film. Her first major UK solo show was the inaugural exhibition at the Fishmarket Gallery in Northampton in 2008.
