The theme of this painting is conservation. ARTIST BIO Cecilia Rouncefield is a painter and printmaker. Her work often portrays animals, possibly with a humorous slant. She is interested in interactions between animals, humans and the natural world. Her work is colourful and contemporary. She studied illustration as a mature student at the University of the West of England and graduated in 2009. Since then, she has explored various media and enjoyed working on a series of self-generated projects. Most recently, her painting of Larry , the cat who lives at number 10 Downing Street, was selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, last year in 2023. In 2018 one of Cecilia’s linocut prints ‘Yellow Jersey’ was exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and she also exhibited at the Royal Cambrian Academy in 2021 with a print showing a rugby-playing badger in the Welsh strip. The jolly badger in those linocuts has also featured on charity Christmas cards for The National Brain Appeal. Cecilia’s work appeared in the Apero Fine Art Catalogue in 2021. Cecilia Rouncefield has exhibited at the Royal West of England Academy Autumn Exhibition and had two paintings shown in the ‘Bristol Art Prize’ Exhibition in 2013. One of those paintings featured concurrently, on the cover of the ‘Bristol’ magazine. Cecilia was pleased to be part of the ‘This Is Sacred Art’ exhibition held at Aberglasney Gardens in Wales in 2016. She is interested in nature, wildlife and ecology and often expresses these concerns in her work. 56cm 40cm
