The Enigma of Salvador By Mark Richard Parkin Oil on Canvas 2022 Signed - SHIPS FROM Cardiff UK This recent painting is a homage to the great surrealist artist and showman Salvador Dali. He was inspiration to me as an art student, I observed and studied his images, composition and painting techniques. Through these studies I have now achieved a good level of competency in painting while at the same time developing my own techniques using different mediums and formulations. This painting reflects some of these techniques along with the composition and the imagery that echoes the surreal world of Salvador Dali. Mark Richard Parkin is a multidisciplinary artist with classical training, whose background spans prestigious art education in Canada, Europe, and the UK, and extensive international teaching experience. His work utilizes traditional oil, watercolour, drawing, and printmaking techniques with bold experimentation, often incorporating organic materials and found objects in a surrealist, assemblage style. He conjures dreamlike worlds through direct brushwork, layering, and meticulous detail, creating thought-provoking juxtapositions that explore consciousness, science, and the borders of reality. His art pulses with psychological intensity, inviting viewers into worlds of existential wonder and introspective emotion. To create imaginary worlds filled with light and darkness while giving free reign to the subconscious mind as a source of creativity, to liberate pictorial ideas from traditional associations.
