His love of the countryside and the sea drew him to sketch and eventually, paint nature in and around his close environment - the sea, farmland, moorland, rivers and woodlands of Devon.Since those early days, his paintings have been exhibited and collected around the world.The Artist is principally self-taught apart from his schooling and a spell at Art college after leaving school. Branching out into a career in music in London, he returned to full-time painting in his 30’s. He has won two awards at the Royal Institute (for painters in watercolour) at the Mall Galleries in London - 2016/17. His book - Down an English lane - was published in 2016. It comprises a collection of works focusing on the many lanes and farm-tracks in and around Devon. The artist’s work depicts the moods and flavors of the coast and countryside principally in Devon and Cornwall. ‘I like to paint the soul of the scene I’m working on, capturing the essence of that which is before me’.Originally a watercolourist, the artist has, over the years, experimented with watercolour inks, gouache, pastels and acrylic on canvas. In recent times, the artist has been working almost exclusively with acrylic on canvas. Condition: Good Condition, as in images Dimensions: 30 x 53 cm
