Inscribed: ”Peggy and Tom The White House Social Staff 1961 Jacqueline & Letitia Fondly.” The inscription refers to Margaret (”Peggy”) Marcy Stames, a member of the White House staff who served during both the Eisenhower and Kennedy administrations, and SSgt. Thomas T. Stames II, United States Air Force (Spelled ”Staymes” in the captions that accompany photos of him in the JFK Library archives). Accompanied by related ephemera including photographs depicting SSgt. Stames with President John F. Kennedy at the White House, a group photograph of White House staff with President Kennedy, a color photograph of U.S. Air Force personnel posed before a presidential aircraft, and photocopies of newspaper clippings identifying Margaret A. Marcy as a White House staff member responsible for handling gifts and invitations for Mrs. Kennedy and her children.
