Fredrika Grosvenor (American, born 1852) is referenced in Edan Hughes, Artists in California, 1786-1940, where her name appears as ”Frederica Grosvenor.” Hughes notes: ”Painter. Born in New York in 1852. Grosvenor was a resident of San Francisco during the 1880s and 1890s. By 1900 she had moved to Los Angeles and established a studio in the Blanchard Bldg as a tapestry artist. In 1905 she was the author-illustrator of Noah's Ark ABC and Picture Book. Her rare works include portraits in oil and still lifes in watercolor.” The present work, clearly signed ”Fredrika Grosvenor, ” corresponds with her documented activity as a textile and decorative artist.
