Harold Gretzner (American, 1902-1977), Harbor Boat, Watercolor on Paper - Paper. Signed lower left ”Harold Gretzner A.W.S.” Verso inscribed ”There is a reverse painting just as good as the front [illegible] going up a hill.” Piece has not been examined out of frame. Harold Gretzner was a Maryland-born watercolorist active in California, known for townscapes, coastal views, harbors, and regional landscapes painted in a transparent wet-into-wet watercolor style. He studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland and was a member of the American Watercolor Society, California Water Color Society, West Coast Watercolor Society, and Society of Western Artists. He exhibited from the 1930s through the 1970s, including in annual American Watercolor Society shows. Frame approximately 32.5H x 38.5W in. Sight approximately 21.5H x 28.55W in.
