Gustave Keller French Silver & Baccarat Travel Vanity Set With RMS Lusitania Ephemera - Gustave Keller, Paris, fitted travel vanity case containing 42 French silver, Baccarat crystal, shell, and related vanity accessories. The burgundy leather case opens to a fitted interior with crystal bottles and jars, covered boxes, grooming implements, writing accessories, and removable compartments. Silver mounts and fittings are marked ”G. Keller Paris” and bear the Minerva head hallmark for French 950 silver. One powder jar retains a paper label reading ”Baccarat France Cristal Decor 54120.” The case is stamped in gilt ”Gustave Keller F. 22 Rue Joubert, Paris.” Additional pieces include silver pencils, a sterling silver folding brush, coin silver knife, sterling silver guilloch? thread holder, table mirror, and manicure implements. Accompanied by early 20th-century travel souvenirs belonging to the case's former owner, Mrs. Young, providing evidence of her travel aboard RMS Lusitania in June 1912. The group includes Cunard Line playing cards and an oval shipboard photograph of two uniformed Cunard crew members, inscribed ”Lusitania, June 1912” and ”Thank you, Mrs. Young, your stewards.” Also included are a Moncrief, Druggist, Troy, New York, pharmacy packet labeled ”Mrs. Young's Phenacetin, ” a Route de la Corniche souvenir booklet, Napoleon III coin, silk tassel, and an early pharmacist note from Troy, New York.
