Mid-Century Style Table Lamp with Two Hand-Carved African Figures - A mid-to-late 20th-century table lamp featuring two hand-carved hardwood figures mounted on a rectangular plywood base with live-edge detailing. The figures are executed in a stylized manner characteristic of mid-century African export or tourist art rather than field-collected ritual objects. The male figure is depicted playing a drum, while the female figure is shown carrying a load upon her head. Both figures exhibit textured, chiseled surfaces and are finished in a dark stain. The lamp assembly consists of an industrial-style metal pipe column secured by a floor flange, terminating in a shallow metal dish and a standard UK bayonet-style bulb holder. The metal flange at the base of the central column has cast characters including the digits 20 and 1914, which are industrial manufacturer part numbers. The construction utilizes components common to British industrial and electrical standards of the mid-to-late 20th century. Base width: 28 cm.
