Mid-20th Century British Oak Veneered Three-Drawer Chest - A mid-20th-century chest of drawers of British manufacture, dating to approximately the 1940s or 1950s. The piece is constructed with quartersawn oak veneers to the drawer fronts and top, showing characteristic medullary rays. The carcass features rounded front edges and a small shaped gallery upstand at the rear. It contains three full-width drawers, each fitted with a pair of decorative cast metal drop handles with a textured foliate design. Secondary timbers include lighter hardwood for the drawer sides and plywood for the drawer bases. The design is typical of the post-war period in the United Kingdom, often associated with manufacturers such as Lebus.
