A British Sterling Silver Dragon Smoking Pipe - This lot consists of a 925 silver smoking pipe or decorative tool featuring an applied figure of an oriental style dragon. The item is constructed with a cylindrical shaft upon which the dragon is cast with a textured body, open mouth, and a small ring through its snout. One end of the shaft terminates in a spherical pommel inset with a small cabochon, possibly a seed pearl or mother-of-pearl. The shaft is struck with a set of British hallmarks including the maker's mark JP, the lion passant signifying sterling silver, the leopard’s head for the London assay office, and a date letter.
