A Collection of UK 18th Century Provincial Copper Conder and Trade Tokens - A collection of British provincial copper tokens, commonly referred to as Conder tokens, and trade tokens dating to the late 18th century. The group includes various denominations, primarily halfpennies and pennies. Specific pieces identified include a Leeds halfpenny dated 1793 with the Cloth Hall reverse, a Cronebane halfpenny with a bishop obverse, and a Manchester halfpenny dated 1793. The collection also features a trade token for Willm Crooks tea dealers and importers of Irish butter, and a token for Norfolk Row, Sheffield. Designs across the group include heraldic shields, architectural motifs, and seated figures including Britannia. Each item is struck in copper and is housed individually within a clear plastic circular capsule. These tokens were issued by private merchants and local authorities to alleviate the shortage of small change during the late 18th century.
