An African Takouba Broadsword, Sahel or Sahara Region - This African Takouba broadsword is characteristic of the Sahel and Sahara regions, traditionally associated with the Tuareg people. The weapon features a straight, double-edged steel blade with a central fuller extending approximately two-thirds of its length. Near the hilt, the blade is stamped with three circular or crescent-shaped marks. The hilt is constructed with a large, rectangular cross-guard covered in dark leather, decorated with tooled geometric designs including starburst patterns at the terminals and a cross-hatched centre section. The grip is wrapped in leather, leading to a large, flattened disc-shaped pommel made of a copper alloy or iron. Overall length: 62.5 cm Blade length: 50 cm.
