UK 1995 Sherlock Holmes Commemorative Crown Coin Covers - A collection of philatelic-numismatic covers (PNCs) issued by Mercury, Watford, to commemorate the centenary of the Return of Sherlock Holmes. Each cover features an embedded silver-toned cupro-nickel crown coin with designs marking the 100th anniversary of the character's return. The covers are franked with two postage stamps: a 1p maroon Queen Elizabeth II Machin definitive and an illustrated stamp depicting narrative scenes from the Sherlock Holmes canon, including The Reigate Squire and The Six Napoleons. All items bear a pictorial silhouette postmark from 221B Baker Street, London, dated 5 May 1995. The card envelopes include reproductions of Collier's magazine covers and are marked with the serial number M 00713.
