Victorian Sterling Silver and Mother-of-Pearl Folding Fruit Knife William Needham Sheffield 1894 - A Victorian folding fruit knife featuring a single sterling silver blade and carved mother-of-pearl scales. The blade is struck with a full set of Sheffield hallmarks including the crown assay mark, the lion passant for .925 sterling silver, and the lowercase date letter b for the year 1894. The maker mark W N identifies the cutler as William Needham. One side of the handle features carved foliate and scroll patterns and houses a vacant rectangular silver cartouche. The reverse scale is carved with two starburst motifs. The handle is finished with reeded silver bolsters and contains brass liners. Blade length: 6.8 cm Weight: 17.2 g.
