UK and World, 20th Century, A Collection of Coins and Banknotes, Base Metal - A collection of numismatic items contained within a vintage Ridgways Ltd. tea tin. The tin is of octagonal form, finished in blue with floral pansy motifs and bearing the royal warrant for Queen Elizabeth II. The contents comprise a Bank of England one pound (£1) banknote, serial number 801277, and an assortment of British and Commonwealth coinage. Visible pieces include a 1961 East Africa 5 cents coin struck in a brass-toned alloy with a central perforation and star design. The collection also contains various UK pre-decimal and decimal coins in bronze and cupro-nickel, featuring the effigy of Elizabeth II and a large silver-coloured coin with a crown and floral emblems bearing the partial legend BRITT.
