The donkey figures are depicted in a standing pose, each supporting an open pannier basket on its back. These baskets feature incised crosshatch patterns and are hollowed for use as small desk tidies, toothpick holders, or match holders. Each donkey is mounted on an integral, textured rectangular base. The tortoise figure features a stylized, segmented carapace with a horizontal seam around the edge, indicating a removable lid for use as a small trinket or desk box. The head and limbs of the tortoise are finished with ribbed detailing. Similar brassware of this style is frequently associated with mid-20th-century decorative production.
