Anvil Mid-20th Century Oak Napoleon Hat Mantel Clock - A mid-20th-century mechanical mantel clock produced by the Perivale Clock Manufacturing Co. Ltd. under the Anvil brand. The clock features a dark-stained oak case in the traditional Napoleon hat or arched-top silhouette, resting on a wide stepped base with a beaded decorative moulding along the lower edge. The circular silvered dial is protected by a glazed brass bezel and displays Arabic numerals with three winding apertures. It includes two regulation sub-levers: one for fast and slow adjustment at the 10 o'clock position and a chime/silent selector at the 2 o'clock position. The base of the dial is marked Made in Great Britain. The interior houses a mechanical three-train movement with a five-rod gong chime assembly, stamped with the serial number 30492. An original paper instruction label is affixed to the interior of the rear door bearing the Anvil brand name.
