He is shown holding a gnarled staff and is accompanied by a small child or acolyte. The piece is fashioned from a mottled greenish-yellow stone with natural variegation. The base is incised with the name DAVID in Latin characters and the Chinese transliteration 大卫 (Dawei). Red cinnabar ink residue is present on the underside.
