A George I 925 silver lidded tankard London 1716 - A George I 925 silver lidded tankard of tapering cylindrical form. The piece is constructed with a stepped, domed lid featuring a volute scroll thumbpiece and a sturdy scroll handle with a heart-shaped terminal. The body is decorated with a single horizontal moulded band and is supported by a flared, moulded foot. Hallmarks are present on the interior of the lid and the side of the body, including the Britannia mark of a seated female figure, the lion's head erased for the London Assay Office, the date letter A for 1716, and a partially legible maker's mark within a shaped punch. Height: 19.5 cm.
