Pitt, Barrie (Ed.). History of the Second World War. Purnell, c.1966-1970. A Multi-Volume Set. - A multi-volume set of Purnell's History of the Second World War part-work magazines, presented in the publisher's black cloth-covered binders. Each binder features large, gold-toned block lettering to the front cover. The contents consist of the weekly magazine series edited by Barrie Pitt and Sir Basil Liddell Hart, organized into a comprehensive historical record. The internal pages are printed in a multi-column format and are heavily illustrated with black and white historical photographs, cartographic maps, and technical diagrams. One volume is displayed open to a page showing a large-scale photograph of a rock face with wartime graffiti reading SEE GERMAN AND DIE. The volumes are folio-sized and were produced as a serialised publication in the United Kingdom during the late 1960s.
