A Large Lower Jurassic Dactylioceras sp. Ammonite Mortality Plate from Schlieffhausen - This fossil specimen features a dense cluster of multiple ammonites, identified as Dactylioceras sp., embedded within their original sedimentary matrix. Known as a mortality plate or death bed, the specimen originates from Schlieffhausen, Germany, and dates to the Lower Jurassic period, approximately 170 million years old. The ammonites exhibit characteristic fine, dense ribbing and are preserved in varying sizes across the surface of the light ochre-coloured granular limestone matrix. The relief of the fossils is well-defined against the surrounding rock. The specimen is presented on two clear acrylic display stands and is accompanied by a blue descriptive identification label stating the species, location, and geological period. Width: 30cm.
