A Sterling Silver Tie Clip by S. J. Rose & Son, Birmingham 1950 - A 925 silver tie clip of rectangular form manufactured by the silversmith S. J. Rose & Son. The front face features engine-turned decoration consisting of engraved foliate scrollwork on either side of a central blank rectangular cartouche. The reverse is fitted with a hinged spring-tension mechanism. The reverse is struck with a series of hallmarks comprising the maker mark S.J.R, the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office, and the date letter a for 1950. There is a further partially legible mark located beneath the date letter.
