A Chinese Iron Red Ground Famille Rose Lidded Ginger Jar - A Chinese export porcelain lidded ginger jar of baluster form, featuring a vibrant iron-red ground decorated with fine white enamel scrolling foliage. The body is set with two large white-ground quatrefoil reserves, each delicately painted with a bird perched upon a flowering prunus branch. The neck is encircled by a polychrome geometric meander border. The base is finished with a wide band of stylised lotus lappets in turquoise, yellow, and pink enamels. The matching domed lid features a smaller floral reserve and is surmounted by a gilded bud finial. The lower rim of the lid is decorated with a turquoise-ground border containing floral scrolls. No marks are visible on the exterior of the body or lid. Height: Approximately 11.5 inches (29 cm).
