A Price Brothers Art Deco Relief-Moulded Earthenware Jug - This mid-20th-century English earthenware jug was manufactured by Price Brothers of Burslem, Staffordshire. The vessel features a baluster-shaped body set upon a pedestal foot with a tall, curved handle. The handle is embellished with a relief-moulded floral terminal at its upper junction with the rim. The body is finished with a distinctive horizontal ribbed or beehive texture. The piece is decorated with relief-moulded motifs of exotic birds and flowers, which have been hand-painted with overglaze enamels in shades of pink, yellow, blue, and green. A thin brown line accents the rim and the edge of the foot. The underside is marked with an embossed arch reading MADE IN ENGLAND, an impressed FEN mark, and a green stamped wreath mark containing the text PRICE BROS. and MADE IN ENGLAND. An impressed 99v is also present. Height: approximately 30 cm Base diameter: approximately 11.5 cm.
