Mid-20th Century Italian Glazed Earthenware Gilt-Heightened Leaf-Form Basket - A decorative Italian art pottery basket of organic form, crafted from glazed earthenware. The body is modelled as overlapping leaves with scalloped rims, surmounted by a substantial twisted branch-form handle. The exterior is further embellished with applied relief decoration in the form of flowers and berries. The piece features hand-painted mottled glazes in shades of forest green at the base, transitioning to a dusty pink and mauve palette towards the rim and handle. Decorative elements including the leaf veins and scalloped edges are highlighted with hand-applied gold gilt. The base is marked with a hand-painted black inscription reading .ITALY with three small dots positioned beneath the letter T.
