Neoclassical Style Patinated Metal Sculpture of a Seated Boy Reading - A patinated cast metal sculpture, in the Neoclassical style, depicting a seated young boy or putto. The figure is portrayed in a contemplative pose, wearing a laurel wreath and a decorative armband while intently reading an open book held on his lap. The boy rests upon a textured, rocky outcrop which is integrated into a tiered, rectangular plinth base. The piece features a dark brown patina with artificial verdigris highlights applied to the recessed areas of the hair and wreath. While visually similar to works attributed to Taylor, there are no visible maker's marks, signatures, or foundry stamps present on this example. The casting displays fine detail in the book pages and the texture of the base.
