Bidspirit auction | A large hand-painted earthenware two-handled

A large hand-painted earthenware two-handled vase - A large two-handled earthenware vase of ovoid amphora form, featuring a flared rim and two small loop handles attached at the shoulder, tapering to a narrow base. The body is hand-painted with a large, loose floral spray in an impressionistic or watercolour style, featuring a palette of red, purple, and yellow with green foliage. The background consists of a cream-coloured glaze with mottled green and golden-brown tones, reminiscent of the Tiffany finish used by makers such as Royal Bonn. The rim and handles are finished with a streaked, dark green glaze. To the side of the lower body, there is a handwritten signature in dark slip reading Tayilh. This piece is characteristic of mid-20th century European decorative studio pottery, possibly of Mediterranean origin.
