Royal Mint. Isambard Kingdom Brunel 2006 Brilliant Uncirculated Two-Coin Set. - A 2006 Royal Mint Brilliant Uncirculated two-coin presentation pack commemorating the bicentenary of the birth of Isambard Kingdom Brunel (1806–2006). The item comprises a glossy, folding card folder featuring the iconic 1857 photograph of Brunel by Robert Howlett against the launching chains of the SS Great Eastern. The front cover is titled BRUNEL 1806-2006 ISAMBARD KINGDOM BRUNEL above a green border with a decorative rivet motif. The spine bears the text COMMEMORATING 200 YEARS 1806-2006 ISAMBARD KINGDOM BRUNEL. The interior is illustrated with a line drawing of the arched roof of Paddington Station and contains two £2 coins held behind protective plastic. Both coins display the obverse portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, FRBS. The interior text boxes provide technical specifications for the two commemorative reverse designs. The first coin, titled The man by Rod Kelly, features Brunel against a background of railway architecture with the edge inscription 1806-1859 ISAMBARD KINGDOM BRUNEL . ENGINEER. The second coin, titled His Achievements by Robert Evans, depicts a section of the Royal Albert Bridge with the edge inscription SO MANY IRONS IN THE FIRE.
