A 1959 Sterling Silver Gilt Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes Second Degree Jewel to Brother Walter R. Procter - A sterling silver gilt and enamel fraternal jewel belonging to the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (RAOB). The pendant is shaped as a Maltese-style cross with the arms inscribed Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes. The central circular medallion features a blue enamel border with the Latin motto Nemo Mortalium Omnibus Horis Sapit surrounding a relief-moulded buffalo head with red inset stones for eyes. The reverse is hand-engraved with the inscription: BRO. WALTER R. PROCTER UNITY LODGE No. 4308 EXALTED 12-2-59. The base of the reverse features Birmingham hallmarks including the anchor, lion passant, and date letter K for 1959, alongside the maker's mark F.C/P for F. C. Parry Ltd. The jewel is suspended from a maroon silk ribbon mounted with two gilt metal bars. The top bar is engraved DEG 15-7-54 and the lower bar is engraved 2ND DEG. 24-11-55. A small circular blue enamel RAOB monogram badge is pinned to the ribbon. The lot is accompanied by a modern printout of the 1939 Register for the Proctor household at 71 Robinhood Street, Gloucester, identifying the recipient Walter R. Proctor (born 23 December 1905).
