A Collection of Limoges Porcelain Miniature Cabinet Ware by Vignaud Freres with Fragonard Courting Scenes - A collection of fine porcelain miniature decorative items and cabinet ware produced by Vignaud Freres in Limoges, France. The pieces are decorated with transfer-printed Scenes Galantes after Jean-Honore Fragonard, depicting romantic courting couples in 18th-century attire within central circular reserves. The decoration is set against rich ground colours, primarily burgundy, with additional examples in cobalt blue and light blue. Each piece is further embellished with elaborate stamped gilt borders featuring scrolling foliage and rocaille motifs. The collection includes a miniature teapot or coffee pot with a gilt handle, spout, and finial; two circular lidded trinket boxes; two cabinet plates with scalloped edges; a small pedestal dish or tazza; and several saucers. The underside of the larger plate bears three distinct marks: a gold arched LIMOGES-FRANCE mark, a central factory monogram for Vignaud Freres consisting of a hatched V overlaid with a J, the code D. 42, and a block-letter LIMOGES FRANCE stamp. The decorative scenes are signed fragonard within the printed image.
