A Japanese Style Hand-Painted Porcelain Scalloped Decorative Plate - A circular porcelain decorative plate featuring a hand-painted design in white and gold-toned gilding against a matte black ground. The central composition consists of an eight-pointed star within a medallion, surrounded by eight petal-like forms and a border of eight stylized cloud or butterfly motifs. The interstices are decorated with fine geometric cross-hatch patterning in gold. The plate features a lobed or scalloped rim with a continuous scroll border. The design is characteristic of Japanese export porcelain, specifically the Satsuma style. There are no maker's marks visible on the front of the plate. Diameter: 19.7 cm.
