UK 1996 Queen Elizabeth II 70th Birthday Cupro-Nickel Five Pound Crown - A United Kingdom commemorative five-pound crown, dated 1996, struck in cupro-nickel to celebrate the 70th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. The obverse features the third definitive coinage portrait of Her Majesty facing right, wearing the George IV State Diadem and a pearl necklace, designed by Raphael David Maklouf with his initials RDM visible at the base of the neck. The surrounding legend reads ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA F D FIVE POUNDS. The reverse, designed by Avril Vaughan, features a group of five flags including the Royal Standard, the Union Flag, and the Queen's personal flag, set above a stylized depiction of Windsor Castle. Two pennants are inscribed with the years 1926 and 1996. The coin features a milled edge.
