A decorative cast brass balance scale with foliate beam - A decorative cast brass set of balance scales featuring a scrolling foliate beam. The beam is supported by a centrally positioned segmented column mounted onto a tiered octagonal base. The upper portion of the column includes a shaped handle and a small graduated arc-shaped scale at the pivot point. Two circular pans are suspended by three lengths of brass chain from the hooks at each end of the beam. The casting displays floral and scrollwork motifs throughout the beam and column assembly. No maker's marks are visible on the piece. Height: 300mm Beam Width: 250mm Pan Diameter: 110mm.
