The obverse features the Young Head portrait of Queen Victoria facing left, accompanied by the struck legend VICTORIA DEI GRATIA and the date 1845 below the truncation of the neck. The reverse displays a crowned shield of the royal arms within a laurel wreath, surrounded by the legend BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF: and floral emblems of the rose, thistle, and shamrock. The edge is lettered in relief with the inscription DECUS ET TUTAMEN ANNO REGNI VIII. No maker's marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
