UK 1953 Elizabeth II Coronation Ten Coin Proof Set - This lot comprises a ten-coin proof set issued to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. The set includes a Crown, Half Crown, Two Shillings, two Shillings featuring English and Scottish reverse designs, Sixpence, Threepence, Penny, Half Penny, and Farthing. Each coin bears the date 1953. The reverse of the Crown depicts four quartered shields of the United Kingdom arranged in a cruciform around a central crown, with the floral emblems of the four nations in the angles. The silver coins feature the Latin inscription FID DEF. The dodecagonal Three Pence features a crowned portcullis and is inscribed THREE PENCE. The bronze coins include a Penny inscribed ONE PENNY, a Half Penny inscribed HALF PENNY featuring the ship GOLDEN HIND, and a Farthing inscribed FARTHING featuring a wren. The set is presented in its original maroon leatherette case with a red velvet interior. The lid features gold-coloured embossing consisting of a royal crown, the monogram E II R, and the arched text CROWNED 2ND JUNE 1953. No maker's marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
