A Pair of Hand-Painted Lidded Baluster Jars Signed A. Mellor - This lot comprises a pair of hand-painted jars and matching lids, each of baluster form with a flared neck and circular foot. Each jar is decorated with a continuous still-life scene featuring clusters of blackberries, apples, and plums set against a mottled ochre and tan ground. The domed lids are each surmounted by a metal spherical finial with a yellow finish, matching the circular bands at the rims of the lids and jars. The lower body of each jar bears the painted signature A. MELLOR. No manufacturer marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the base of the jars. Height: 50cm Width: 28cm (across widest point).
