A Group of Baroness Hand Painted China Tableware - This lot comprises a group of hand-painted china tableware, consisting of a large oval platter, two circular plates, and a cylindrical mug. The set is decorated with traditional fruit studies featuring peaches, plums, grapes, and blackberries against a mottled ground in tones of ochre and brown. Each piece features a gilded rim, and the mug is fitted with a fully gilded D-shaped handle. The oval platter is signed A. MELLOR in paint to the lower right of the composition. The base of the oval platter bears a green printed backstamp reading BARONESS. HAND PAINTED CHINA. positioned above a crown device, with the text BY STAFFORDSHIRE CRAFTSMEN arranged in a semi-circle below. A small white adhesive label with the handwritten characters 1153 is also present on the reverse of the platter. No other marks or signatures are visible on the remaining pieces.
