WWII Luftwaffe Pilots Signed (7) Book Plate. Signatures Include: Wolfgang Spate, Walter Schuck, Wolfgang Falck, Adolf Galland, Erich Hartmann, Gunther Rall, and Walter Krupinski. Wolfgang Spate (8 September 1911-30 April 1997) was a German Luftwaffe fighter pilot during WWII. He was a recipient of the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. Spate is credited with 99 air victories. He was also the military officer in charge of the development of the Me-163 Komet, the worlds first rocket fighter. Walter Schuck (30 July 1920-27 March 2015) was a German military aviator who served in the Luftwaffe from 1937 until the end of World War II. As a fighter ace, he claimed 206 enemy aircraft shot down in over 500 combat missions, eight of which while flying the Messerschmitt Me 262 jet fighter. Schuck was a recipient of the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. Wolfgang Falck (19 August 1910-13 March 2007) was a WWII German Luftwaffe pilot and wing commander and one of the key organisers of the German night fighter defenses. As a fighter ace, he claimed eight enemy aircraft shot down in 90 combat missions. Adolf Josef Ferdinand Galland (19 March 1912-9 February 1996) was a German Luftwaffe general and flying ace who served throughout WWII in Europe. He flew 705 combat missions, and fought on the Western Front and in the Defense of the Reich. On four occasions, he survived being shot down, and he was credited with 104 aerial victories, all of them against the Western Allies. Erich Alfred Hartmann (19 April 1922-20 September 1993) was a German fighter pilot during WWII and the most successful fighter ace in the history of aerial warfare. He flew 1,404 combat missions and participated in aerial combat on 825 separate occasions. He was credited with shooting down a total of 352 Allied aircraft: 345 Soviet and 7 American while serving with the Luftwaffe. During his career, Hartmann was forced to crash-land his fighter 16 times after either mechanical failure or damage received from parts of enemy aircraft he had shot down; he was never shot down by direct enemy action. Hartmann received the Knights Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds. Gunther Rall, (March 10, 1918-October 4, 2009), German WWII combat pilot, the third highest scoring fighter ace in history. He flew more than 600 combat missions, scored 275 victories (mostly against Soviet aircraft), and was shot down eight times. He was one of the founders of Germanys postwar Air Force serving as the Luftwaffes chief of air staff (1970–74) and military attache to NATO (1974–75). Walter Krupinski (11 November 1920-7 October 2000) was a German Luftewaffe fighter ace in WWII and a senior West German Air Force officer during the Cold War. He was one of the highest-scoring pilots in the war, credited with 197 victories in 1,100 sorties. He was called by his fellow pilots Graf Punski (Count Punski) due to his Prussian origins. Krupinski was one of the first to fly the Messerschmitt Me 262 jet fighter in combat as a member of Jagdverband 44 (JV 44—44th Fighter Detachment) led by Adolf Galland. The signatures on this book plate are original. The approximate size is 5.5 x 8.5 inches. Good overall condition.
