Postcard with a portrait of Theodor Herzl within an embossed Star of David, captioned ”Dr. Theodor Herzl”. From the ”Zion” series No. 1, published by Verlag Ph. Bäcker, Brody. The postcard was posted from Berlin, Germany, in 1907, about three years after the death of Theodor Herzl, to David Weiss of the Jewish community of Győr, Hungary, from a well-known local family. The card bears numerous handwritten signatures of unidentified figures. That same year, 1907, the World Zionist Congress was held in The Hague. Condition: wear and age staining.
