Bidspirit auction | Souvenir sheet of the Palestinian

Souvenir sheet of the Palestinian Authority, face value 600 Fils, 1998, printed by Bundesdruckerei. The stamp shows the Canaanite god Baal beside an aerial view of an ancient walled town, inscribed The Palestinian Authority. The sheet underwent self censorship on account of its content, and an overprint of bars was applied covering the eyes of the figure and one of the inscriptions in the corner of the stamp. This overprinted version is not listed in the catalogues and is extremely rare. A documented philatelic item. Mint.
