Bidspirit auction | Cover of the Rishon LeZion

Cover of the Rishon LeZion local post of the interim period, franked with an Eretz Israel stamp of 40 mils face value, showing a courier and an armoured car and inscribed BY ARMOURED CAR, with RISHON LE ZION and the year 1948 at its foot. The stamp is cancelled with a Rishon LeZion postmark dated 2 May 1948, the days of the People's Administration, some two weeks before the declaration of the State. The cover is hand addressed to an addressee in Tel Aviv. An express cover: the EXPRESS handstamp is present on the cover but is very faded and barely visible, and it is ringed in one of the accompanying photographs. Lightly toned paper and fold marks. Good condition, exactly as photographed.
