HaShiloah, a monthly for literature, science and the affairs of life, volume 31, Odessa 1914. One bound volume of the Hebrew journal HaShiloah, edited by Dr. Yosef Klausner and published by the Achiasaf company. The Hebrew title page reads: volume 31, issues 181 to 186, Tammuz 5674 to Kislev 5675, Odessa, printed at the press of N. Halperin, Yekaterininskaya 36. Facing it stands a parallel title page in Russian and French: GASHILOAKH, a literary and scientific monthly, Tom XXXI, issues 181 to 186, July to December 1914, together with Haschiloah, Revue mensuelle scientifique et litteraire, Directeur Dr. J. Klausner, Editeur Societe Achiasaf. The volume opens with the full table of contents, listing among others the poem Merhakim by Uri Zvi Greenberg and the essays and works of Yehoshua Barzilai, Dr. Yosef Klausner, Dr. Chava Shapira, S. Zemach, Yehoshua H. Yeivin, M. Z. Wolfovsky and S. Schreier. Bound in at the end is an address from the management of HaShiloah to its subscribers, readers and agents. Hard binding with cloth spine and corners over paper boards, wear and losses to the binding, age stains, a tear with loss to one leaf, the text block complete. Fair to good condition, exactly as photographed.
